High standard restoration

Sustainable Construction

Coed Haroldston’s outbuildings have recently been converted to a very high standard retaining many original features to form three holiday cottages and one residential unit. Energy-conserving under-floor heating has been installed in the ground floor area of each cottage. All have been stylishly restored, recycling stone, wood, metal and other materials used in the original construction. Many original features relating to their original use such as the stable doors and the dog runs– have been retained to add an element of continuity to Coed Haroldston’s heritage. Each cottage has its own unique style reflected in the careful choice of high quality furniture and soft furnishings using natural materials as far as possible. And each cottage has its own private decked seating are.

Bat Conservation

While the renovation of Coed Haroldston was being carried out, a great deal of time, effort and money was spent on Bat Conservation, ensuring that the colonies already in residence were undisturbed. We are strong believers that bats have as much right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness as any other species including humans. With the help of bat experts we adapted four old sheds to cater for them; happily the bat colonies accepted their refurbished accommodation without any problems. Coed Haroldston Hilton for bats now has five regular species of bats visiting our buildings.
